Teaching 21st Century Skills to Students
In 2013 the U.S. Department of Labor said that 65% of schoolchildren would eventually work in jobs that do not currently exist. How do we prepare students for this future? According to k12.thoughtfullearning.com these are the skills needed for 21st century students:
Learning Skills: Critical Thinking, Creative Thinking, Collaborating, Communicating
Literacy Skills:
Information Literacy, Media Literacy, Technology Literacy
Life Skills:
Flexibility, Initiative, Social Skills, Productivity, Leadership

We will talk about concrete ways to prepare today's students for tomorrow's future while discussing the balances needed in the classroom today to meet current needs as well.
